Summary

The ability to collect small volumes of blood (microsamples) has been a significant breakthrough with regard to the collection of blood samples from animals as well as humans (non-clinical and clinical studies).  Microsampling devices and technologies continue to evolve and improve; however, its adoption supporting drug development has been slow. This workshop will include regulators and consist of focused discussions on selected topics with the objective of formulating solutions or best practices.  The topics are selected based on recent concerns and discussions and will include: selection of sampling site - does it matter; when do you need a bridging study (healthy, patients, pediatric studies, preclinical studies);  how to demonstrate concordance; patient centric sampling (verification of home/self-sampling), and what else can we do with microsampling.
