Examples of activities that could be cited in the nomination statement include, but are not limited to:
- Personal commitment and/or leadership in increasing hiring, retention, advancement, and recognition of women in academia (students and/or faculty), industry, or government.
- Development of programs to build a pipeline of women leaders.
Leadership in sponsoring and/or developing professional training/development programs for women in the pharmaceutical sciences.
- Creating or sponsoring programs that enable women to build professional networks to prepare them for leadership roles.
- Championing programs that can be demonstrated to improve work force participation of women, such as daycare facilities, flexible work options, fitness programs, institutional training on unconscious bias, etc.
- Creating an environment that empowers full participation and advancement of women in the pharmaceutical sciences, possibly through mentoring, sponsorship, financial support, and/or personal investment of time in job training.
- Promoting increased philanthropic giving to establish scholarships for women in the pharmaceutical sciences.

- AAPS Awards Committee Chair
- Alice Till or a substitute member appointed by the Awards Committee Chair
- Previous year’s recipient
- 3 officers (chair, vice chair, past chair) from the AAPS Women in Pharmaceutical Science Community. If this community no longer exists, the AAPS Board will appoint alternate members.
Selection Process:
The Selection Committee will consider the following:
- Role and contribution to women in pharmaceutical sciences (meaningful promotion of professional development, success, and recognition of women in the pharmaceutical sciences)
- Scope and scale of impact
- Potential or evidence for a lasting impact
- Uniqueness of story; emotional impact
- Demonstrations of best attributes of AAPS members (selflessness, high standards, etc.)
- Moral and ethical approach to the work
The selection committee will vote to select a recipient. If no qualified candidates meet the high level of service AAPS seeks for this recognition, then it will not be given in that year.
