AAPS PharmSci 360 Opening Session Examines Drug Development Financing
Talk by Dr. Richard Thakor Focuses on the Economics of New Modalities
Arlington, VA—The 2025 PharmSci 360 conference opens with an in-depth look at the current state of healthcare financing specific to pharmaceutical development.
Richard Thakor, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance at the Carlson School of Management of the University of Minnesota, delivers the event’s opening plenary on Sunday, Nov. 9. His talk examines the economics of therapeutic development with a focus on new modalities. In addition, the session touches on delivering therapeutics to developing countries.
This continues a conversation started during the closing plenary at the 2025 National Biotechnology Conference with a presentation from MIT Sloan School of Management economist Andrew Lo, Ph.D. The recording is available to view on AAPS Science 360.
Thakor will also speak as a panelist in the executive session, “Molecule to Milestone: IND-Enabling Strategy for Pharma Leaders,” Monday, November 10.
“Many of the attendees are either involved in developing therapeutics using new modalities or planning to move into this burgeoning sector,” AAPS 2025 PharmSci 360 Scientific Programming Committee Chair Mei He, Ph.D., said. “This session will offer insights into the economics driving this critical area in a time of rapid and evolving changes."
PharmSci 360 will take place Nov. 9-12, in San Antonio, Texas, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. To learn more and to register, visit http://www.aaps.org/pharmsci360.
