Nikhil Munshi, M.D., to Address Recent Innovations in Oncology Therapies at AAPS National Biotechnology Conference

Arlington, VA— Nikhil Munshi, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Kraft Family Chair and Director of Basic and Correlative Science, as well as the Associate Director of the Jerome Lipper Myeloma Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will examine recent science across numerous modalities to treat cancers in the opening plenary of the AAPS National Biotechnology Conference at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

His presentation, “Translational Triumphs: Harnessing Biotechnology to Redefine the Future of Myeloma Therapy,” will examine how innovations are improving survival rates for cancers previously considered difficult to treat, such as multiple myeloma. He will address the challenges of bench-to-bedside research and treating cancers in animal models versus human patients. Importantly, he will highlight how interactions with regulatory bodies may help develop biomarker-driven approval pathways. Along with his roles at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, he is currently a senior physician at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Boston VA Healthcare system.

Munshi’s current research focuses on integrative oncogenomics in myeloma and developing novel targeted therapeutics, including antigen-directed and immune effector cell therapy/vaccine approaches.

“Novel and emerging modalities have revolutionized the oncology treatment landscape, to the point that in some cancers, 'cure' is now a topic of conversation—something once unimaginable,” AAPS 2025 NBC Scientific Programming Committee Chair Prathap Nagaraja Shastri, Ph.D., said. “I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Munshi for the plenary talk, and I eagerly anticipate his insights on recent patient treatments with these innovative modalities, as well as navigating the regulatory landscape to establish appropriate treatment endpoints.”

NBC takes place May 4-7 in Boston at The Westin Boston Seaport District. To learn more and to register, visit www.aaps.org/nbc.
