Pharmaceutical Scientists See Increasing Number of Retractions
AAPS Offers New Resources in Response to Growing Concern

Arlington, VA—AAPS is recognizing Ethics Awareness Month by making resources available to scientists who are concerned about credibility in peer-reviewed literature.

This month, non-members can access a recording of a panel discussion featuring Ivan Oransky, M.D., Co-founder of Retraction Watch, and Colby Vorland, Ph.D., Assistant Research Scientist at the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington, as well as a webinar on retractions presented by Oransky alone.

“Ethics is the foundation of trust in the pharmaceutical industry. As scientists, we have a responsibility to ensure that our work upholds the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and patient-centered decision-making. From research and development to regulatory approval and patient access, every step must be guided by scientific rigor and ethical responsibility,” 2025 AAPS President, Russell Weiner, Ph.D., FAAPS, said. “During National Ethics Awareness Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to advancing medicines that are not only innovative but also safe, effective, and accessible to those who need them most.”

AAPS offers additional resources for pharmaceutical scientists who seek to make an impact through credible research, including AAPS Newsmagazine articles, webinars, and sessions at AAPS conferences. Pharmaceutical researchers are encouraged to visit the AAPS website and AAPS Science 360.
