General Information / FAQ - A Question & Answer Guide to AAPS eLearning
What is the purpose of the AAPS eLearning program?
The purpose is to provide AAPS members and the scientific community with new venues for continuing professional development, enabling wide participation without the need for travel, hotels, or time away from work and family.
What types of content are included in these programs?
The AAPS eLearning events include live webinars, on-demand webcasts and training courses, DVD-ROMs and video interviews with distinguished pharmaceutical scientists.
Will these events replace AAPS' live on-site courses and symposia?
No, these programs are conducted in addition to on-site events. The eLearning courses represent an added benefit to our members.
How will these presentations be formatted?
In response to the requests of many members and the goals of AAPS leadership, live webinars will become the predominant delivery mechanism. Typically they will consist of a live 90-minute lecture with synchronized PowerPoint slides.
Will I need special equipment or software to view these events?
AAPS' online programs may be viewed on either a PC or Mac. Nearly all modern computers already come with the necessary software installed, which is the Macromedia Flash player or Windows Media Player DVD-ROMs require a PC with built-in DVD player.
If a pre-recorded event is presented on the Web, will I need to access the material at a certain time, or take the course in one sitting?
No. You may come and go as you please, anytime day or night. All presentations are split into short segments of 20 to 30 minutes in length, as we know there is often not enough time to view a complete lecture in one sitting.
What is the registration process?
The registration process, and any associated fees, vary with the specific event. After selecting a specific program, you will be advised of the specific procedure.
If I receive a password for a particular program, may I share it with a coworker?
AAPS eLearning professional development events are offered on an individual basis. In fairness to other fee-paying participants, we ask that you do not share the passwords.
