The Thayer Hotel at West Point has been a part of American history since 1926, when it was originally constructed to accommodate U.S. Military Academy personnel and their guests. The Thayer is a sprawling, three-winged structure made of granite from the local area, and it sits at the south entrance to the U.S. Military Academy offering dramatic views of the Hudson River and Hudson Highlands. The façade resembles a replication of a medieval fortress with its Gothic windows, crenellated roof lines and turrets overlooking a steep, rocky cliff and the Hudson River. The hotel has played host to many dignitaries including presidents, ambassadors, movie stars, and sports figures as they have come to visit the prestigious military academy of West Point.

Security Information

You will need to have a government-issued photo I.D. to enter West Point. There are two security gates that everyone must go through. Once you go through the first gate, the hotel is on the right. Once you go through the 2nd gate, parking for the hotel is on the left. If you are driving your own car, you will be asked to open your trunk for security purposes. While walking around West Point, please remember to carry a photo I.D. and your room key.
